Frontera Fund Fighting to Preserve the DACA Program

The members of the GOP recently formed numerous fronts to oppose the DACA program. The news about the extremists’ fronts is heartbreaking to young immigrants who fear being deported back to their native countries. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) gives undocumented youths who meet certain requirements a pardon from deportation. The organization also provides the youths with a social security number as well as an opportunity to search for jobs in America. The provisions are renewable after two years. The program also allows the youth to obtain a driving license and an opportunity to get the in-state-tuition fees.

General Kan Paxton, The Texas Attorney, penned a letter to President Trump’s administration to squash the program or face legal action. The attorney wanted the administration to stop accepting new applications and terminate the renewals. Other nine attorneys and one governor were in favour of the quest and had their names on the letter.

The Hispanic Caucus members, later on, held a closed-door meeting with John Kelly who serves as the secretary of Homeland Security. He informed the attendees that DACA program was at stake. The secretary feared for the existence of the program given the several lawsuits against it. The DACA created in June 2012 by former President Barrack Obama. The program is currently being implemented for the fifth year since it was established. It has assisted and protected more than 800,000 immigrants in the United States.

The program has been beneficial in several ways. More than 95% of DACA beneficiaries are now either studying or working or doing both in the country. The students contributed huge amounts of money to the American colleges and universities countrywide. Those who work have high earnings and therefore contribute millions of dollars as tax to the United States administrations. All these money boosts the economy of the nation. Many of the DACA beneficiaries who work in the country have invested much of their income in education, buying vehicles, purchasing homes and venturing into business. Only a small percentage of their money is sent back to their native countries.

Several individuals and organisations have stood up against the Trump administration to protect the DACA program. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund has been in the forefront of leading other to help stop the termination of the DACA program. The fund organisation provides useful guidance as well as information and assistance to help keep DACA program and look for a lasting solution.
